Today I picked Carter up from school and we headed to the airport. Aunt Kim was flying in from New York because she's fabulous like that...
We had a little time to kill and made a detour to Starbucks. With snacks in hand we grabbed a table outside. It was one of those unexpected moments...
The day was delightfully cool and for the first time it actually felt like fall. The sun was shining on my sweet little girls and I found myself thinking I want to always remember them just like this...
The were smiling and as we chatted over brownies and applesauce...
It was perfection on a Tuesday afternoon...

The Modern Bridesmaid
Not so long ago you may remember Carter giving herself a little haircut in hopes of being "fashion". She has filled many at home hours with dress up and a week ago make believe met reality. Our favorite bridesmaid boutique...
Which just so happens to be owned by two of my favorite people (Kim and Cayce)...
Had a little runway show last Sunday. Carter was beside herself when Aunt Kim asked her to walk in it. After a little hair and makeup she was ready to strut her stuff...
At the risk of sounding like a cheesy advertisement I just have to say that Bella Bridesmaid is one of those places that does exactly what they say they are going to do...
They offer fabulous dresses that you could totally wear again...
Carter was loving being surrounded by all the beautiful girls...
It was a really fun afternoon...
I always feel so proud of Kim and Cayce for going for it and finding such success...
They are the finest business women I know....
Total professionals...

I'm in love with a 34 year old man.
He's my favorite person in the whole world and today is his birthday...
So last night we celebrated with Cool and the Gang...
Nate's last "skating rink" party ended with him slicing his finger open with a pocket knife about 28 years ago. Last night we were out to redeem the rink...
And redeem it we did. In the form of the Limbo...
And some relay races around the rink...
There were a few epic wipeouts but I'm pretty sure we erased the unpleasant memories of his last time at the rink...
We followed things up with some pizza and beer. I'm pretty sure that wasn't on the menu 28 years ago. At least the beer part...
I'm sometimes at a loss as to how to celebrate this person who means so much to me. Guys are tough. What do you do to show them how special they really are? I hope that somehow in all the little things he manages to get the message.
Today Carter and I drove down and took him to lunch. She's been sick the past few days and we finally got a "strep throat" diagnosis after a trip to the doctor yesterday...
She got to hang out with us today while we are waiting on the "contagiousness" to wear off...
I'm pretty sure she's feeling better...
Good thing cause' I needed a little help. We've blown up balloons...
Picked up our cake...
And come up with 34 of our favorite things about Nate the Great...
Now we're just waiting on the birthday boy to get home so we can par-tay! We're trying to be patient but that cake is awfully tempting when you're one and half...or five...or heck who am I kidding I'm dying for a piece! I'll leave you with our 34 reasons to know and love Nate (he's a keeper)...
1. You're the nicest person I know (really).
2. BEST DAD EVER
3. The way you say, "That's what she said."
4. He makes the best cinnamon rolls. ~Carter
5. Your laugh...it's awesome.
6. The way you like to surprise me.
7. How you're not afraid of spending money.
8. The way you let me sleep in.
9. The way you smell.
10. You're thoughtful (as in bringing home my favorite cookie from business trips to DC).
11. You give the girls baths.
12. Your calves. They are amazing and I'm jealous.
13. The way you hold my hand.
14. You're love of dessert.
15. You're motivated and driven.
16. The way you call me babe.
17. You send me flowers "just because".
18. The way Emme always wants "daddy".
19 You're a great dresser.
20. The way you love football.
21. You make me feel like a million bucks.
22. You stop at garage sales.
23. You smile more than you frown.
24. You make our girls feel special.
25. You're passionate.
26. You like to run.
27. You love watching movies.
28. You recognize a "good deal".
29. You love a deep conversation.
30. The way you are trying to learn to like coffee.
31. How much you love me.
32. How much you love our girls.
33. How lucky we are to have you.

Sleep Happens
You may have noticed I added a new little link on my sidebar...
As much moving as we have done it is always a little challenging to make a house feel like a home in a short amount of time. I started last year when we moved in taking photos of each of our spaces. I never quite finished and who knows how much longer we will call our current house "home" so on that note the Master Bedroom...
Whenever we move I have to admit this is usually the last space to get a little love (no pun intended). I just got around to hanging a few curtains last month which spruced things up a bit. Our bedroom is pretty small but when it comes to sleep it's my favorite place to be! I also love this mid-century dresser that I found on Craigslist for $50...
I recently added these striped pillows that Istole bought from TJ MAXX for $9.99 a piece...
The walls are equal parts photos and artwork...
And then there is a our bathroom which is about the size of a shoebox...
I love the vintage gray and pink tile and the fact that every time Emme sees this Vogue print she says "Mama" that baby knows how to make a girl feel good...
Not much to write home about but it's the perfect place to catch some zzzzzz's which I'm pretty fond of with two little people to keep me busy!

Practically Perfect
Sometimes it's fun to bend the rules a little. I'm not talking about anything too crazy, I am after all a color between the lines kind of gal.
This past Wednesday I picked Carter up from school a couple of hours early. As I signed her out I hesitated under the "reason" section. I quickly jotted down "appointment" justifying it to myself as we skipped out the front doors thinking we do have an appointment...
An appointment with fun!!
I've been wanting to share seeing this with Carter since I first heard about it...
So we checked our cares at the door...
Found our fabulous seats (thanks Nate you're the best)...
And smiled, clapped, and sang along for the better part of 2 hours...
It was Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious...
An afternoon that was practically perfect in every way. Just like a certain nanny we all know and love...
Happy Friday!
