2 BIG things happened today!!

Big thing number one (and it is only number because I'm going in chronological order) is 32 years ago today my lovely parents tied the knot! The are two of the people who mean the most to me in my life. I would truly be lost without them and the love with which they raised me. They met in the eighth grade and they've been "going steady" ever since...

My sister is an extremely talented writer and has been gifting us with these amazing little pieces that personify us individually for the past couple of years. This Christmas she gave my parents one about their relationship and with her permission I am sharing it so that you might know them a little better on their special day.

Mike and Roxi

They were a sweet couple, but as different as two people could be. He being of the persuasion that white walls were normal and fine… she believing with conviction that you could not get too much fancy in one room. She let him have a glittery blue boat and the big closet, and in return he let her have all the critters, trinkets, and fun she could stand. He liked things to be in their rightful places and quite honestly that didn’t make a bit of sense to her. He was the kinda man who packed for his trips saying if we forget anything we can always buy a new one there... and he did, shoes, razors, cell phones and the like…. She however, once walked into the grocery store and took one band aid… so she didn't have to buy the whole box. He rarely gave her things like furs, diamonds, or luxury cars, but he gave her his heart everyday and to her that was far better. Sometimes they would wake up early just so they could lie awake and giggle. He didn't talk in the mornings… she, never ran out of things to say. She made him breakfast, and sometimes while she did… he made her crazy just wondering when it might be ready. He did try to get her things he imagined she would like... like white Christmas trees, green beetles, and gym memberships. He bought new cars and she turned them into used ones. He was always saying how sweet she was and it was true. He was a strong man until it came to tiny dogs.... and then he talked in little voices. She listened to Bing Crosby sing about Christmas year round, and he rarely intervened. He always let her know when he did and did not like her hair and once, just once she called his ass flat… right out loud. If he was thirsty she was quick on her feet. She was always gone a few hours longer than she expected and he always acted a little amazed. He took up for her, saying “girls, go help your mother” or “don’t talk to your mother like that!” They spoke a language no one else could hear, made up of side hugs, and hassling, and kisses on the top of the head. On occasion they looked at each other and said, “Dear, the best is yet to come.” And that was true, it was.


Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad...my heart is full of love for you!

And now, for the 2nd BIG event...it was 8 years in the making, beyond my parents wedding, they received the anniversary gift they would never forget...my baby brother! He was cute, and fat, and got into a whole lot of trouble (but that probably wasn't completely his fault, he had two pretty pesky older sisters to contend with). He loved guns, and cowboys, football and little debbies. He was a mess, he was annoying, but that just made him a good little brother.

He's still just as cute as ever, the perfect Marine, and a great friend...
