Easy like Sunday afternoon...

One of the most wonderful things in life is a good friend.  Someone you can really love.  Someone who just gets you.

I feel so very thankful that in spite of our many moves we continue to find ourselves surrounded by true friends in each new home we create.

I take thousands of photos of my children but rarely photograph our friends.  On Easter Sunday my sister grabbed our sweet friend Cayce's fabulous camera and started clicking.  The result...well, let's just say she has a new hobby waiting because she snagged some beautiful shots...

It was an afternoon with friends (some old, some new) that are near and dear to my heart...

And then there was a little funny business (Kim is one of the only people who brings this out in me)...

She's pretty great like that...

I think that moving so often and having to re-establish yourself could be a pretty lonely existence...I'm so thankful I can say I feel like it is exactly the opposite...

Being surrounded by so many wonderful people is one of the nicest things that could have happened to our little family...

Oh, and back to my sister and what should be her new photography hobby...she managed to snag some of my all time favorite pics of Emme.  A couple of she and Nate...

And this little series which just captures her personality perfectly (thanks Kimmi)...

Here's to good friends and Sunday afternoons.

Sweet Peeps

All things Easter have been the theme around here for the past couple of weeks.  Our first celebration was actually a week early which is when they do an egg hunt at our church.  I knew Carter would be fired up and ready to go...

But Emerson surprised us by getting in on the action as well...

Sweet success...

It's so easy for me to get sentimental on holidays as I can quickly remember what each of them looked like this time last year...what a difference 365 days make...

It was a happy morning with plenty of reasons to smile...

It also kicked off a lot of egg-cellent activities around our house over the next week, first up dying...

Nate entertained Emme and I enjoyed a little time with Carter.  She chatted me up about "how BEAUTIFUL" and "AMAZING" each egg was...

I loved every second of it...

As Easter morning approached we enjoyed sharing with Carter about why our family chooses to celebrate...about why this day means so much to us.  It did my heart good as she worshipped at Church on Sunday between her daddy and I celebrating our Savior and the fact that HE is Risen.  She is growing up quickly, but still managed to get pretty excited about her Easter basket (she put her dress on at the crack of dawn because she couldn't wait to wear it, Emme was still jammied up though)...

Our little monkey got pretty excited about her new car...

Then it was time for her to get all dressed up too...

I love that my sweet 5 year old soaks up all things "sister", matching dresses just happen to be one of them (she was just thrilled about it)...

I still pick her up every chance I get, those long legs are working against me though...

Which is why I'm lucky to have this snugglebug (now if only I could just keep her little forever)...

It was a beautiful Easter morning.  As we walked to the car after church Nate suggested he try and get a good picture of the girls and I (he's kind of great like that).  Unfortunately this was about as good as it got for the three of us...

They were feeling a little more cooperative about a photo with their dad...

He seems to know how to bring out the best in them...

For the next few minutes I got to spend a little time in my "happy place".  Behind the lens of my camera while the girls ran around on a beautiful green lawn...

Of course Emme managed to find a few acorns that she attempted to eat...

But we weren't going to let that ruin our fun...

Girls in chocolate dresses with pink ribbon sashes was just what the morning ordered...

And also my lucky day because Carter was cooperating for a few photos (which has become increasingly rare lately)...

In all of her efforts to act "big" there is still something so sweet and little about her...

We're all stocked up when it comes to little and sweet...

It's a pretty great place to be...
