Bathing Beauties

Most nights you can find these little bathing beauties in our tub...

Carter has always loved the bath...

And Emme is following in her big sisters footsteps...
While they get a nice soak in the tub I thought I would share our bathroom with you (I know it's been awhile since the last "Home Tour" post, but I was enjoying sharing so thanks for indulging me).

I think bathrooms are one of the rooms in a home that can go either way, being fabulous or functional. A strictly functional bathroom is not a deal breaker in a home, but if you wind up with one that feels a little on the fabulous side it's like an added bonus. When we checked out our current digs the girls/guest bathroom was a pleasant surprise...

It is an older home, which usually means a slightly neglected and outdated bath. But much to my surprise this one had been spruced up and I loved the perfect mix of vintage and modern...

Lot's of white and aqua, with a few splashes of pink, leave things feeling airy and girly...

I also love the under the counter top open shelving, it's the perfect spot for all those little bath critters and other necessities...

I'm also a fan of using something unexpected (like a bud vase) to hold something expected (like a toothbrush) I think it spruce's things up a bit...

But my favorite things about this bathroom is the print that I knew would be right at home the second I walked in. It serves to tie everything together perfectly. I have had these goldfish for a long time but have never loved them more than I do in this cozy little room (art by Henry Matisse)...

It's a happy little place and the perfect room for munchkin's to get squeaky clean! Oh I almost forgot the fish above reminded me I wanted to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Ruby...

She loves the water just as much as Carter and Emme so she fits right in!

The Skinny

I swore up and down when skinny jeans began taking the world by storm that I would NEVER wear them. I couldn't imagine squeezing my hippy self (and I'm not talking 70's) into a pair of pants that tapers at the ankle.

The problem is I'm surrounded by girls who look good, actually they look FABULOUS, sportin' a pair of skinny pants (enter Carter and Kim)...

Even at their goofiest they make skinny jeans look good...

So what's a girl with a booty to do? Well this one thought she would just cut her losses and stick with her go to gal the trusty bootcut. But then one day Kim trapped me in the J Crew dressing room. Seriously. She locked the door and wouldn't let me leave until I tried on their matchstick jeans. Okay, okay, I'm being dramatic. I was really just curious and thought I would give us both a good laugh by putting them on. Imagine my surprise (shock really) when I didn't hate them...I actually kind of liked them...okay I loved them....and the icing on the cake they lived up to their name and made me look (or at least feel) a little bit skinnier. (Que skinny jean models in their best pose)...

I'm sure they're not for everyone but I've changed my ways. I'm a convert. A skinny jean fan. What about you?? A lover or a hater?? Inquiring minds want to know.

Monday Carter Edition #67~Cool Rider

Monday Carter spent our first officially "fall feeling" afternoon (temps in the 80's mean the people around here grab a jacket) riding her new bike...

We combined the money she received from both great grandparents and bought her some new wheels. She is feeling like quite the cool rider (thanks so much G.G., Mimi and Papa)...

She did circles around Emme who watched from the best seat in the house...

We're loving a little break from the heat. Happy almost fall y'all!

Stealing Isn't Cool

Dear Mr. Robberman,

You suck.

Seriously, you are low and I am SO annoyed with you. I just have to ask are you enjoying my bright green purse?? Does it make you fee like a million bucks?? I'm sure you look just fabulous sporting it around town.

As for me I look a lot like a little kid playing store. My measly little wallet holds one thing, my husbands credit card (which is on loan until I can replace all the things YOU took).

YOU who left me crying over my delicious cheeseburger lunch last Saturday...
Okay, so I didn't really cry, but I was plenty mad! YOU took what wasn't yours. YOU now have all the little things that were dear to me. And let me just say this...

Stealing isn't cool.

Deep down I sort of hope that you needed them more than I did, the thought of that makes me feel a little better. I forgive you mister Robberman. After all my things are just things and they can be replaced. I wish the same could be said for your foolishness. Maybe someone should steal your thieving ways and replace them with good deeds? Just a thought.

Love,
Me

Candyland

When you become a parent birthday's take on new meaning. I mean what could merit a little extravagance more than celebrating the life of your beautiful child? I tend to gravitate towards going all out because it seems like the perfect occasion...

This year Carter invited her friends and family to join her in Candyland...

So we strung up some candy...

And got ready to celebrate the BIG 5...

Everywhere you looked there was candy...

And Carter's very own candy shop...

Including a buffet with all of her favorites...

There were also plenty of other sweets to tempt our guests...

We were so thankful to have so many people we love to share our sugar with!

Carter and her little guests enjoyed bouncing (even though we had some uninvited rain)...

They made the most of the wet weather...

Heck, a little water never hurt anyone...

The slide was a hit...

and so was the GIANT cupcake pinata...

It only took us 45 minutes (and a few adults) to finally bust it open...

And with sugar highs officially in the works we headed inside for cake and ice cream...

But, before we dug in, we sang to the birthday girl (Carter and her buddies Corbin, Hudson, and Jaden)...

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...

I was loving the sweet look on her face...

as everyone gave it their all and wished her a happy fifth...

MAKE A WISH...

I know mine had already come true, in spite of the rain it was a wonderful evening...

And as everyone headed home we sent them on their way with some candy from the buffet...

and these boxes for the kiddo's (I thought a toothbrush for the sugar bugs was the least I could do)...

Oh, I almost forgot, at some point there was a frenzy of paper flying and presents were opened...

Carter tried on one of her new gifts and sent her guests out the door in royal fashion...

Of course we had one very tired little princess after the party was over. As I laid down beside her for a few minutes that night it hit me that this was the fifth time we've done this. I can remember each party so vividly...

Which is why it is a bit hard to believe that we have already reached number 5! But, now we have a new photo to add to our collection (with a sweet little sister who celebrated with us for the first time)...

We love you Carter and can't wait to see what the year ahead holds!
