Teenie Wahine

We've been home from San Diego for a few days, but it's not surprising that sand is still showing up in the most unexpected places. You see, Carter not only loved the beach she also coated every nook, cranny, crack and crevice of her body with sand. She did not inherit this from me because, lets face it, I like to be clean. But, it was really fun to see her get down and dirty and have a great time. She loved crashing in the waves with her dad and burying him in the sand. She is quite the little teenie wahine. It was a memorable day...here are some of our photos from the ocean...

Those last two photos reminded me of the first time we ever took Carter to the beach. She was two and a half and looking back maybe there was a little foreshadowing going on because the second her feet hit the sand she wanted to take off her shirt and lay down in it...

She's our little sand baby!

Gladys Kravitz P.I.

This is a story about a lady named Gladys Kravitz (note: real names have been changed to protect the innocent). Gladys is a lover of life and all things good and this pursuit has led to her latest adventure. You see Gladys loves her little neighborhood. It is quaint, charming and just a little bit like Mayberry. Lately, however, a "stink" has begun to drift into their perfect little world, and, well, Gladys was having none of that.

Apparently some people who were up to no good started makin' trouble in the neighborhood (sorry a little Fresh Prince just snuck in there). These "folks" were dealing some illegal substances and paid the price with their freedom, in other words they landed themselves in the big house. But, that wasn't the end of it, apparently some other "dealers" took up residence in their empty home. This is where Gladys stepped in. She let the authorities know what these evil doers were up to and what do you know they enlisted Gladys as their newest "undercover agent". So, lately she has been doing things like meeting her "handler" in the alley while pretending to take out the trash...and texting encrypted messages so that she would remain anonymous. And, what do you know? Well, yesterday they took a few more folks to the slammer, thanks to Gladys and her handy work.

That Gladys is a piece of work alright. And I know the suspense just might be killing you...who is Gladys Kravitz anyway? Well, like I said, she is deeply undercover and her identity is TOP SECRET...but she might, just might be the same lady who gave birth to and raised me...just maybe.

Table for Three

One thing is for sure this family loves to eat! When we are on vacation it is sad to say one of our favorite things is all the eating out...probably because our restaurant choices have been a little limited while living here. For that reason you'd probably be surprised at the places we get excited about...PF Changs, Fuddruckers, Chik Fil A, Etc. Things the normal American sees everyday are slightly less accessible! So, just a few pic's from our nights out. This is what we look like when we are driving to go eat, Carter and I are very happy, and Nate is seriously pondering what he is going to order...

The fastest horse, I mean dad, in the west...

Carter's drawing of our family of three (oh and by the way when asked which "monsters" were which I am apparently the bigger, as in wider, of the two "adults" that just does wonders for my self esteem)...

A little Yogurtland, that places is awesome...

But we also didn't want ice cream to get it's feelings hurt, so we had plenty of that too...

Rainbow Love

While we were here in California Carter experienced a monumental first...her first pair of Rainbow flip flops to be exact...

There were decisions to be made, as in pink or white...

PINK (of course)...

Nate and Carter each got a new pair, as for me my oldie but goodies are going to hang in there a while longer, our feet are in love...

Rainbow's are #1...

Guacamole

So I'm almost too late but, being that the members of this family are some guacamole loving fools, I just couldn't miss sharing that at 16 weeks our newest addition is fitting right in...
Don't worry baby, this week I've eaten enough guacamole for the both of us...you just keep on ripening up!

Made for You

Seven, really? Has it been that long? All I know is I'm not one bit "itchy". Truth be told I'm more in love with you than ever. On this day, seven years ago, I married my very best friend...

We have changed and grown. I'm not quite such a skinny mini and you look a little less boyish. There have been some (ok a lot) of tears. A few ugly spats. Plenty of good conversation...Food (because we're Southern and food IS important)...and Love (the kind that you mean from the bottom of your heart). And while it's hard to believe so much time has flown by there is nowhere else that I'd rather be. Sitting right here with you, a munchkin' in the sand and a bump in my belly...
