The Best Decision I Ever Made
The simple--
What to wear...
what to eat...
what to do.
The more difficult--
How to behave...
how to live...
how to matter.
Decisions both big and small are basically what life is made up of. Everyone can look at themselves and where they sit right this very minute and trace the path of decisions (or maybe circumstances) that have gotten you there.
So, I realized something today. I know exactly (beyond a shadow of a doubt) what the BEST decision I ever made was. Well, maybe second best, deciding to follow Jesus will always rank numero uno (without that one nothing else makes sense) But, beyond that this one tops the list.
Here goes...
He's about 6'2", has spiky blonde hair, and a grin that stretches from ear to ear. It was the grin that got me. The longer we share and live this life we have created together the more I realize how grateful I am for what we have. I'm so thankful for the whirlwind romance that had me head over heels within weeks of meeting him. I am still just as in awe of the calming presence he brings and the overall sense of joy that comes strolling in every time he does. His smile makes you smile and I've decided that is a gift. One of the first things I realized when I met him, way back when, was that you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't say, "Wow, what a great guy." Eight years and many life changes later that still remains true. That's impressive. But so is the fact that we spend more time together than anyone and I feel the exact same way. I can search every crack and crevice of my heart and say, in all honesty, there is not one thing of significance that I don't like about you. So, the best decision I ever made can actually be summed up into one very short three letter word..."YES!" Which is what I emphatically said the day you asked me to marry you...

And today as you turn 32 (this means you are officially in your thirties babe) I realize we are doing this. I mean really doing this...as in we are no longer a couple of lovestruck newlyweds, but a real honest to goodness family. I pray the road to "growing old together" is full of moments and love just like the ones we have already shared. You are beyond my wildest dreams when it comes to husband and daddy material. You take the cake. My heart is happy because of you. So, today on your day, I need to say one thing...you are the best decision I ever made. But, none of it would have been possible if you hadn't given me the choice. So, what I really need to say is...Thanks so much for asking.
