Emerson scared the bejeebers out of me when we spent the better part of a day in the ER...
Thankfully dehydration was the diagnosis and once those IV fluids started pumping she was on the mend...
I knew the moment that little hand found her hip she was going to be juuuuuust fine...
Thank goodness she was ready to hit the ground running we've had plenty of things to keep us busy. It's Summer after all...home of late night antics, cookouts with friends...
And the occasional random afternoon at the carwash...
And fashion. There will always be fashion...
I may be the only one but as much as I've been looking forward to the break from routine, school and commitment I can at times have a love hate relationship with Summer. I adore my kids. Duh. But spending every hour of everyday with them (I might as well invest in a referee jersey) can tend to test a person. Most days I pass but I'll be the first to admit sometimes I fail. I get frustrated, I get short, I have to ask them for forgiveness. So these first few weeks of Summer have been about trying to find a groove that works for all of us. So far I'm finding spending lots of time with friends is good for all of us. It's no secret Emerson loves her some Claire...
And while sometimes they too are working out a few kinks (you know three year old stuff like sharing and well...sharing)...
Those moments pass quickly and you're left with a lot of this (which is obviously really great)...
Have I mentioned lately how happy I am that our friends are back? I am. Icing on the cake is that my kids have their buddies/cousins back (we have learned to conveniently overlook the "distant" that should come before "cousin" :).
Complete with breakfast in bed...
Classy that's how we roll around here...
The girls also got geared up for VBS...
They had a great week with their friends (minus the morning Emerson decided she would rather not attend and screamed bloody murder as I mall walked away as fast as possible)...
She recovered quickly (I'm sure of it because I checked on her 2 minutes later and she was dancing and singing) high fives to all the mom's out there who have to drop and run it ain't no fun...
Seriously VBS was amazing and I had a truly meaningful moment when I happened through the sanctuary during one of my volunteer breaks and heard a chorus of tiny little voices singing "we are the light of the world, we are the city on hill". In a word...awesome.
As soon as the festivities wrapped up on Friday we threw our stuff in the car, dropped our little wonder dog at the kennel...
And hit the road for a date with the beach. Emerson was determined to get there as fast as her little legs could carry her...
Seeing how much they love the water makes me really happy...
There is always something just a little bit magical about the ocean...
The next day the girls woke up bright and early ready for more of the same...
It was a lovely day...
Later that afternoon shark pics and sno-cones with Roxi and Pops were on the agenda...
It was the perfect weekend get-a-way and a nice reminder that life is charming and lovely if you choose to overlook the brown spots. I'm soaking up some much needed grace tonight after a less than stellar "mom" day but lucky for me there is plenty of that to go around. Thank you Jesus...can I get an amen? Happy Summer y'all.
