Lately...

Lately we've been doing the usual.  You know, hanging with June...

Hanging with each other...

And we even threw in a "Spa Day" for good measure...

Summer is delivering a slower pace just like it had promised but it's also delivering on family time.  This past weekend we headed to New Braunfels to spend a the afternoon at Nate's family reunion...

The girls had a blast at sliding for hours at Landa Park...

It was a great afternoon spent with people we love...

Which kind of gave us this great idea...why not have a little more fun?!  Pops and Roxi were spending the week in Port Aransas and the beach was calling Carter and Emme's name...

Stay tuned!

Girls just wanna' have fun!

It's looking like I'm not going to be blogging as much this summer.  Call it the heat, call it laziness or call it I'm trying to be present and spend time with my kids not on the computer.  I've never put any pressure on myself to blog and I'm certainly not going to start now!  So here goes with what may become the "weekly recap" because that seems to be the going rate for when I'm feeling motivated to sit down and write anything.

Let's kick things off with the my recent road trip!  My sweet friend Cayce is vacationing moving to Hawaii for the next year so we all jumped on the opportunity to spend a little time with her.  We snagged her for a couple of days and took her to my Mama's house for her birthday.  First things first, fuel for the road...

We arrived to a home cooked meal (which is one of the best parts of hanging out with my parents) and then it was on to the evening entertainment.  Oh wait, there wasn't really any "evening entertainment" planned so we did what we do best and made some up!  Our plan began with drawing names...

The person you drew would be receiving a makeover from you...

Yes, it's true, we're 13 going on 30!  Things started off with everyone taking the task rather seriously...

But at some point we veered slightly off that path...

Ok let's be honest...we headed straight in to crazyville...

Don't worry we are completely aware of the fact that we are weird with a capital W.  I wouldn't want it any other way.  As a matter of fact by the end of the night I looked like a broken down mime...

I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard!  The next morning we were fresh faced and ready for "art camp"....

The goal was to have my Mom lead us through step by step and paint a painting.  We started off with blank canvases...

And followed her lead...

Before long things started to take shape...

If only I had put down my paint brush right that very minute.  I learned a valuable lesson on Saturday...I'm not a fan of painting!  It totally doesn't agree with me and I became a little sour lemon.  I think I'm a perfectionist or maybe I just get stressed out over art.  Luckily the other girls were naturals (Courtney and Kim)...

Speaking of sour lemons I decided not to give up and joined in on the next painting...

It went it little smoother but I'm pretty sure it's safe to say, "When I grow up I'm NOT going to be a famous painter!"  The finished results...

That night we headed to the movie to see Rock of Ages.  Just keeping it real it was wildly inappropriate but I love a good musical and still thought it was great...

Getting away with good friends is something that I'm determined to make a priority (I'm not thinking anything drastic just a once a year kind of a thing).  Thanks so much Mom and Dad for making us feel special and for taking such good care of us, you're the best!  I made it home just in time to celebrate the guy who gave me these two cuties...

We let him sleep in until they couldn't stand it anymore and then they just had to wake him up to say "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!"...

He's a dream come true when it comes to Dad's...

We had a lazy afternoon where every person in our house found a spot to catch a snooze (that's rare)...

And topped off the day with a cookout.  Bryan's sister Allison and her cute little family joined us which made it that much more fun...

Other highlights of this past week include a fun filled family outing to the Children's Museum...

And a little Chik-Fil-A date with three of my favorite chicks...

Funny faces are my favorite...

Happy Hump Day!
